OIS’s Rapid Market Acceptance

The rapid market acceptance is due to the fact OIS scores high on the Bass diffusion model. Specifically:

  1. Innovators: The OIS business case is very straightforward. Specifically,
      1. create an OIS baseline model of the firm’s income statement from last year,
      2. relax its assumption of a fixed forecast
      3. the results will demonstrate how much profit the firm forfeited by not using OIS
      4. To illustrate the business case, a simple proof of concept S&OIS model was created for the previous year’s income statement for Zippo. The results were astonishing: the firm had left 50-150% of last year’s profit on the table.  See OIS Works for the details.
  2. Followers: Once a few OIS innovators have success with S&OIS, those successes will be shared with a variety of candidate partners who each have clients and associates of their own with whom they can share the successes. They constitute, in effect, a multiplier effect for OIS and include

In addition, a variety of organizations have formed to address limitations of current income statements derived from the budget which has widely acknowledged limitations. Examples include:

PACE is composed of researchers, practitioners, and consultants who are building          analytical models to effectively track cost and revenue drivers and performance measures.”

The causal models are cost predictive and profit is an effect of  subtracting causal costs from revenue. So OIS should be very appealing to PACE’s 6000+ members. Further, Gary Cokins is a PACE Director and I’ve co-authored three articles with him previously. So, I’m optimistic he and I can co-author an article for PACE’s membership.
